Haywire’s Capsule Collection MEDUSA, is the second of a three part series inspired by the ocean and its surroundings. This particular capsule was specifically created to elicit the beauty and mystery surrounding jellyfish, the dancers of the sea.
These articulate designs were meticulously crafted with platinum plated .925 sterling silver, intricate chain structures and freshwater pearls. Gliding on the ocean surface, jellyfish are both marvelously alluring, but also dangerous and unforgiving.
The designer was fascinated by the metaphors surrounding these invertebrates and the mystery and limited understanding human kind has of them. Having no heart or brain, jellyfish or medusas are almost the antipode of us human animals. Yet there senses are incredibly heightened and developed. Their movement control is very limited yet they appear to drift and dance on the water so gracefully.
Medusas in this sense, are everything we are not. Yet they feel their way through life and challenge our understanding. It is precisely this challenging of conventional intelligence as perceived by human kind, that peaked the designer’s curiosity and bears the message the we still have many questions to ask, and a lot to learn from these creatures.
